The NCAA held its first national cross country championship meet in 1938, and -- save for 1943 when the meet was canceled due to World War II -- it has been held every year since. Villanova was first represented in the meet in 1948 (with two at-large runners) and qualified its first team in 1962. The Villanova men have since then won four team titles (1966, 1967, 1968, and 1970), and were runners-up twice (1962 and 1969).
