Bobby Curtis to Contest the Fukuoka Marathon in December

Curtis set a course record at the 2013 Gasparilla 8K
Bobby Curtis will run the second marathon of his career on December 1st at the Fukuoka Marathon in Japan.  Curtis debuted at the New York City Marathon in November 2011, where he finished 15th overall (3rd American) in 2:16.46.  Curtis had targeted a sub-2:10 finish in that NYC debut, but struggled a bit over the final 8K.  In that race, he went through the half in 1:05:23, and came home in 1:11:23. Indicative of his difficulties, his final 10K was covered in 36:15.

Since then, however, Curtis has switched sponsorship from Reebok to Hansons-Brooks and has enjoyed some success, such as winning the Gasparilla 8K in Florida earlier this year in a course-record time.  Curtis has a nice 1:01:52 PR over the half-marathon.  Such a PR predicts something in the 2:08-2:09 range for a full marathon.
