Seven times an All-American at Villanova, Frances Koons kicked off the new year in style by coming a strong second at the 34th annual Emerald Nuts Midnight Run in New York City's Central Park. The 4-mile race was won by Delilah DiCrescenzo in 21:07, 17 seconds ahead of Koons. Koons relocated to Philadelphia last fall and has been assisting Marcus O'Sullivan in Villanova coaching duties in the wake of Adrian Blincoe's return to his native New Zealand. Recent Villanova graduate Amanda Marino, based now in Falls Church, VA, was 10th. Both Koons and Marino participated in last summer's USA Olympic Trials.
