Reid PRs at Prefontaine Classic 1500Both Muncan & Reid Miss Olympic "B" Standard

Both Marina Muncan and Sheila Reid entered the Prefontaine Classic 1500 looking for the Olympic "A" (4:06.00) or "B" (4:08.90) standard at the distance. Muncan again missed the "B" standard, finishing one second short in 4:09.87. Reid, who won last year's Canadian national title at the distance and who will seek an Olympic berth later this month, finished 12th, in 4:10.73, a new PR at that distance (her old PR was 4:11.85, set at Mt. Sac in 2011). To be able to compete at the London Games, Muncan and Reid need at a minimum to run faster than 4:08.90. However, Reid will seek a spot on Canada's Olympic team at 5000 meters, not 1500. Reid's performance comes on the heels of her 5000 meter qualifying effort at the NCAA East Regional last weekend. Reid already has the Olympic "B" standard (15:30.00) at 5000 meters, having run 15:23.64 at Mt. Sac.
