Capecci's 5000 14:08 PR Highlights Day 1 at Colonial Relays
Keith Capecci made his 2011 outdoor debut tonight at William & Mary's Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, VA a great success by running a big PR over 5000 meters. Capecci finished 4th of 73 competitors (0.4 seconds out of 2nd overall) in running 14:08.77. The men's 5000 meters also provided a surprise as Villanova's Carl Mackenzie, primarily a 1000-1500-mile runner, competed and finished 26th overall, in 14:43.84 (which we assume is a PR since it looks to have been Mackenzie's 5000 collegiate debut). Also in the 5000, John Pickhaver established a new PR as well, finishing 34th overall in 14:50.02.
Other Friday night notes on the men's side include the following:
800 meters
10. Sam Ellison 1:52.01
27. Joseph Capecci 1:55.26
400 meter hurdles
2. Nicoy Hines 52.36
11. Stefan Goodridge 55.69
400 meters
14. Christopher Kearney 49.56
200 meters
3. Carlton Bowers 21.95
The men did not enter a competitor in the mile, the steeple, or the 10,000 meters. On tap for tomorrow are almost all the relays, the 3000 meters, and some short sprint finals.
