Jen Rhines Goes 15:14.88 in Hengelo 5000
With the USA Track & Field Championships just three weeks away, Jen Rhines stayed sharp with a very crisp 15:14.88 5000 meter effort on Sunday in Hengelo, The Netherlands. As the results below indicate, Rhines was the first non-African finisher in the race. Rhines seems to be getting steadily faster as the season progresses: she came home in Hengelo 23 seconds faster than her third place finish on the roads at the Carlsbad 5000 in early April and 18 seconds faster than her second place finish at Stanford in late March. Her time Sunday was her best 5000 meters on the track since 2009, when her SB was 15:07.78. She already well ahead of her 2010 best of 15:22.05 set in Eugene in July.
